Getting a cheap scooter can be harder than you might think, but a few new brands have hit the scene making it easier to make owning a moped or scooter more plausible.  The Xtreme brand came out a while back and offered affordable scooters for less, although they did not always offer the power of a Honda or Yamaha.  If you are looking for a 250cc scooter you will want to look at one of the major brands, but if cost and efficiency is more in tune with what you need than you can always get a 50cc scooter that has minimal power.
