My little brother is in seventh grade and plays on the little league football team.  My mother tried to discourage him in the beginning but said if he is busy with sports it will keep him busy after school.  Last week while they were having a practice game he twisted his foot and had a bad sprain.  The coach called my mother and told her they would have the school nurse look at it and then she should take him to our regular doctor.  She has very good family medical insurance where she works and she called the doctors office immediately and made and appointment.
