Cleaning Business Perception

January 31st, 2009 . by admin

I have been noticing a lot more cleaning businesses in the area these days. I am not sure if it is because the economy is bad and these are people that have been laid off or if it is really that profitable. I talked with a few of the contractors in my area that have been here for awhile and are pretty established.

They told me that these fly by night companies come and go. It seems that for whatever reason people think pressure washing is easy or that anybody can do it. Plus start up costs can be minimal if you by a pressure washer from one of the big box stores, throw it in the back of your truck, and call yourself a cleaning business.

They said what happens is they will start up with junk equipment, the wrong chemicals, and no knowledge. They charge an extremely low price so they can get work. Well people find out that it is a mistake to hire a lowball cleaning business like that.

They cause damage, deliver poor quality, and just steal homeowner’s money. This gives the public a bad perception of the cleaning business industry and makes it harder for reputable cleaning companies to make a living.
