Camcorders are electronic devices that have a video camera and a video recorder built in as a single unit. With the advent of hard and optical disks, flash memory there are more available means of storage mediums for camcorders. A camcorder mainly comprises of 3 functional units: the imager, the lens and the recorder. The electrical signal formed by the camera unit of the camcorder is utilized by the recorder to generate the digital video.

High quality in video output is achieved by increasing the number and size of charge coupled devices, pixel count of camcorder. Hybrid camcorders are designed to be more versatile in the types of storage media they support. My next post will be about, camcorder repair.
